Pledging to be a Servant

There has been a video going around by Penn Jillette regarding a video that a bunch of hollywood stars have put out about "Pledging". His concern is regarding two specific lines in the 4 minute video: "I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama" (said by Anthony Kiedis of The Red Hot Chili Peppers) and at the end Ashton Kutchner and Demi Moore say, "Be a servant to the President". On Twitter and Facebook all the JFK quotes starting coming out about not asking what your country can do for you, e… Continue

Tea Party Confusion

Again cross-posted at AZ Central:

Yesterday I ventured out to see the Gilbert Tea Party at the Town Hall. There was quite a crowd! Official numbers ranged from 600-1000 people. On one hand I can appreciate the people rallying together, but I was still confused as to the reason, which was a big reason for my attending.

As well as plain old curiosity. ;-)

I was told by many that this was not necessarily about taxe

This Tea Tastes Bitter

Cross-posted from my AZ Central Blog:

I'm all for a good protest. Protesting and rallying a nation is one of the most important freedoms we have as Americans. This year could probably be called "The Year of the Protest" with how awful our economy has been, and all the budget cuts that have been made in the most important areas of our livelyhood: health care and education.

I was curious about the current wave of protests, the

Interview in Homeland Security Today

Kinda neat- I had a mini-interview for Homeland Security Today in a story about Napolitiano, and what her leaving could mean for Arizona. It's a pretty good article, and I say this even if I weren't in it. ;-) http://www.hstoday.us/content/view/5876/320/ It's a weird digital format, turning pages was a little strange. The article is "Arizona Under Napolitano". I like that the author gave many viewpoints regarding immigration, includin… Continue

I'm so gay!

For today, as the slogan goes I'm "batting for the other team". But you know, that saying doesn't really work. We shouldn't be known as teams.… Continue

Show Nominated For Another Award

I'm really glad someone emails me about these things- otherwise I'd never know! Yes, Seekers, the show has been nominated for another award. This one is the Podcast Award, which is also called the "People's Choice" award, since anyone can vote! I must be doing something right, because I never in… Continue

Yeah, it's just not happening this week

I tried to get a show together. Really, I did. The day job takes precedent however (the day job being mom), and on top of drowning in Girl Scout adventures, I'm also drowning in teeny, tiny, extremely annoying little lice bugs. I mean- ew. The bug problem i… Continue

Homework! Get active and ask for all presidential candidates to be included in debates!

UPDATE: FIRST DEBATE IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH! In thinking back over the last few shows about voting and third parties, I'm realizing that perhaps my approach is wrong. I mean, I haven't changed how I feel, but I have been taking into account what listeners have been saying. Add in the 500 factors that effect the direction of elections and who is included, and you just have to wonder what the point of all of it is. I'm still of a mind that there is a point. That people are frust… Continue

Site additions and changes!

You may have all ready noticed a couple of changes made to the site- yes I tend to get bored looking at the same decorations all the time. (I do the same thing here at home- just start moving furniture around. Drives the husband batty. Mostly because he ends up having to move the furniture around while I direct, but that's a different story for another time... ) Don't worry- I promise never to go too "girly" when I make changes to the homepage! ;-) Also, due to some fantastic upgrades by the f… Continue

Home and time to get back to seeking!

Most of you have noticed that I got back into town (especially if you've been following twitter!), last Friday. A weekend of sleeping, dusting, laundry and floor-cleaning commenced. Today is the first day that I felt more normal, and back in the swing of things. I've been itching to podcast again however for the past couple of weeks. This time away has been really good and needed. I've had time to reflect over what I've been doing, and thinking of ways to improve. My plan- going weekly with th… Continue

Road trip!

Well, if you have been listening to the show, you know that I'm heading out with the family for a 6 week trip just about everywhere! I'll still be twittering away like a fool, though not quite as often, but also I'll be blogging our adventures at http://mamacutlermusings.blogspot.com/ You might see some guest entries from a couple of pint-size travelers too! I bet you see me lurking around here more than normal, since I have the worst time sleeping on the road, as well as time zone changes. W… Continue
