Paul C. Warnke Lecture on International Security: A World Free of Nuclear Weapons: Illusion or Possibility (Council on Foreign Relations)

Mohamed ElBaradei made some comments recently about Iran that have been in the news, the comments were made at the Council on Foreign Relations on Nov. 4th.

Kinda funny, I saw the article from Iran's PressTV 'ElBaradei warns against any Israeli attack on Iran' yesterday
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Mohamed ElBaradei has warned that any Israeli attack on Iran will have dire consequences for the Middle East. ElBaradei warned on Wednesday that such an attack would "turn the Middle East into a ball of fire".
ElBaradei said he was convinced the Iranians were prepared at one point to stop their enrichment program but that the previous US administration and the European powers missed an opportunity to end the standoff by imposing conditions on Iran that were "impossible to accept".

"They were ready to stop at an R&D (research and development) level ... that could have not have created any concern for the international community," Ruters quoted the IAEA chief as saying in New York on Wednesday.

He also called on Iran to accept the agency's draft proposal on its nuclear program.

"Iran could be the door to a stable Middle East," ElBaradei added.

and then later in the day, I listened to the CFR podcast that PressTV sources without realizing it. It was interesting to see how ElBaradei's quotes have been interpreted by other news outlets.

Listen to the recording of the interview of ElBaradei by CFR President Richard Hass followed by questions from the CFR-member audience. It's actually pretty entertaining and interesting, Hass seems to get flustered.

It does seem rather like that, doesn't it? There are just some things (in my humble opinion) that shouldn't be a partisan issue. Abortion shouldn't be an issue because it's a matter of government staying out of personal decisions. Environment shoul…

There is something glaring that the scientists have left out and it annoys the crap out of me that they have, and that is that Co2 is something that is put into the air that never dissipates. It could if it had the time, but that layer of Co2 keeps…

I feel like this climate debate is like the abortion debate. Everyone has their minds made up already and anyone who engages in debate will eventually regress into hatred and insults for the other side. Neat image, though.

Wow. I went to Linda2010.com to see what issues she stood for, expecting to find some kind of an 'Issues' page. No such page exists, but I guess that isn't too big a deal...the election is still a ways away. She does have a blog, though. A blog fil…

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30316.html Linda McMahon is throwing herself into the senatorial ring. Ring, how funny that is because she's the wife of the infamous Vince McMahon. Oh I know it, Minnesota had Jesse "The Governor" Ventura…

It's just sick when a Governor can get attacked for doing the right thing. What else can he do? Pack 4 in a cell?
